Privacy Policy
How Level Parking collects, uses, and protects information — including license-plate data from gateless parking.
Overview
Level Parking, LLC ("Level Parking," "we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Level Parking website (lvlparking.com), parker portal (app.lvlparking.com), mobile app, or any of our parking, subscription, or enforcement services (collectively, the "Services"), how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.
This Privacy Policy is a companion to our Terms of Service. Defined terms not otherwise defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service. By using the Services, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email address, phone number, password (hashed), and account preferences.
- Vehicle information — license plate, state of issuance, make, model, color, and any optional notes you add.
- Payment information — processed by our payment processor (Square, Inc.). We do not store full card numbers; we keep tokenized references and the last four digits so you can identify a saved card.
- Parking activity — parking sessions, reservations, subscriptions, validations, license-plate-recognition (LPR) events at lots we operate, and associated timestamps and locations.
- Location data — approximate location (with your permission) to help you find nearby parking; precise location only while you are actively using map features.
- Device data — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, browser type, and push-notification tokens (if you opt in to push notifications).
- Communications — emails, text messages, and support tickets you send us, plus any responses we send back.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the Services (start sessions, process payments, send receipts, manage subscriptions, recognize your vehicle at Checkout-Free locations).
- Enforce parking rules at lots we manage, including LPR-based enforcement (see §5).
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Communicate with you about your account, transactions, and service updates.
- Comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
- Improve the Services in aggregate. We do not sell your personal information.
3. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as needed to provide the Services. The principal third parties we share with are:
- Square — our payment processor. Square receives the card data needed to authorize and settle charges. Square's privacy notice: squareup.com/legal/privacy.
- Twilio — our text-message provider. Twilio receives the phone number and the message body for transactional SMS (entry/exit confirmations, OTP codes, receipts).
- SendGrid — our transactional email provider. SendGrid receives the email address and the message body for receipts, invoices, and service notifications.
- Mapbox — map provider for the parker app. Mapbox receives coordinates only while you are actively using map features.
- Sentry — error and crash reporting. Sentry receives diagnostic data when something goes wrong, scrubbed of personal identifiers where possible.
- Rekor — vehicle-recognition vendor. Rekor processes plate-text extraction from LPR camera images at lots where we operate cameras (see §5).
- nfors.ai — our enforcement partner for unpaid parking sessions (see §6).
- paived.io, Inc. — our identity, payment, and loyalty network partner (see §4).
- Parking operators and property managers — limited to the data they need to operate the lots they own (e.g., subscriber lists, validation usage).
- Legal compliance and safety — we may disclose information if required by law, in response to lawful legal process, or where we need to in order to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Services.
- Business transactions — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the new entity, subject to this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. The paived.io Network
Level Parking is part of the paived.io network. paived.io, Inc. is a separate company that operates an identity, payment, and loyalty network across multiple merchants. paived.io and Level Parking have common ownership but are separate legal entities with separate data and separate payment processors. The "paived.io Network" section of our Terms of Service (§6) describes the network in more detail.
What we share with paived.io. When you accept our Terms of Service, we share the following information with paived.io:
- Your phone number.
- Your license plate(s) and the state of issuance.
- Vehicle attributes you have provided to us (make, model, color, year).
- The fact that you have a payment method on file with Level Parking — we share a tokenized reference, never your card number, CVV, or any full card data.
- Your visits to Level Parking locations (date, time, location, plate match).
What we do not share with paived.io. paived.io never receives:
- Your DMV record or driving history.
- Your face or any biometric data beyond the text characters of your license plate.
- Your physical mailing address (beyond what is necessary to settle a card payment with your card issuer).
- Your Social Security Number or any government identifier.
- Your marketing preferences with Level Parking.
paived.io's privacy practices. paived.io publishes its own privacy notice at paived.io/privacy describing how it handles the information it receives from us and any payment methods you add directly through paived.io. Level Parking is not responsible for paived.io's privacy practices.
Withdrawing from the network. You may withdraw your participation in the paived.io network at any time by:
- Visiting paived.io/account and requesting removal,
- Emailing support@paived.io, or
- Contacting us at info@lvlparking.com and we will forward the request to paived.io on your behalf.
Withdrawal takes effect within 24 hours across the network. Withdrawing from the paived.io network does not cancel your Level Parking account; you can continue using Level Parking with your card on file even after withdrawing from paived.io network-wide.
5. License Plate Recognition (LPR)
Most Level Parking locations use license plate recognition (LPR) cameras to determine whether your vehicle is authorized to park (paid session, subscription, validation, or Checkout-Free enrollment). LPR cameras capture the plate's letters and numbers along with a timestamp and the camera location. We do not process facial features, vehicle-occupant identity, or any biometric data. Plate images are retained only as long as needed to verify the read and for dispute resolution.
6. Unpaid Sessions and DMV Data — Strict Limits
If we cannot match a vehicle to a paid session, subscription, validation, or valid Checkout-Free enrollment, the session may be treated as unpaid and routed to our enforcement partner (nfors.ai). The enforcement partner may look up the vehicle's registered owner via state DMV records under the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA, 18 U.S.C. § 2721), and send a parking notice by mail with disclosed enforcement fees.
DMV-sourced data is used only for enforcement of unpaid sessions. It is never shared with the paived.io network, and never used for any commercial or marketing purpose.
7. Text Messages (SMS)
We send transactional text messages — magic-link sign-in codes, receipts, Checkout-Free entry confirmations and exit receipts, and similar service messages. Standard carrier message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of non-essential messages. Reply HELP for help. We do not use your phone number for marketing without your separate opt-in.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction. You may request access to or correction of your personal information by emailing privacy@lvlparking.com.
- Data deletion. You have the right to request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations (such as transaction records retained for tax and audit). Contact privacy@lvlparking.com to make such a request.
- Opt out of marketing. You can opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in our messages, replying STOP to promotional texts, or contacting us directly. Transactional messages (receipts, confirmations, account notices) cannot be opted out of while you have an active account.
- Withdraw from the paived.io network. See §4 above.
- Cookie preferences. You may manage your cookie settings in your browser to control data collection through cookies and similar technologies.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the Services and to comply with our legal obligations:
- Transaction records (parking sessions, payments, receipts) — retained for the minimum period required by financial regulation, currently seven years, for chargeback, dispute, and tax/audit purposes.
- Account information (name, email, phone, vehicles) — retained for as long as your account is active; removed within a reasonable period after you close your account, subject to the transaction-records retention above.
- LPR images — retained only as long as needed to verify the plate read and for dispute resolution.
- Tokenized payment-method references — retained for a limited period after a payment method is removed for dispute resolution and audit; you can request immediate deletion at privacy@lvlparking.com.
10. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest and secure server infrastructure, to protect your personal information. We do not store full card numbers; we use tokenized references through our payment processor (Square). However, no data transmission or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
Our Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, contact us at privacy@lvlparking.com and we will remove it.
12. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, and improve our website. We do not run third-party advertising trackers or cross-site cookies. You can control cookies in your browser settings.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes to §4 (paived.io Network) will be announced separately.
